A local businessman has recently caused an online buzz after a clip showing him handing out money to beachgoers in Melaka surfaced online.
The clip, which was posted on TikTok yesterday (Dec 8), has since garnered over 4,000 likes and 350,000 views at the time of writing.
‘Wave and you’ll get RM100!’
In the clip, the businessman is seen making an appearance at Pantai Klebang alongside Hulu Langat Member of Parliament (MP) Mohd Sany Hamzan.
He’s seen holding a stack of cash while calling upon beachgoers that whoever waves at him, they will be given RM100 immediately.

Unsurprisingly, this caused a crowd to quickly form around him and many surge forward to claim the money after giving the businessman a wave of their own.
In the background, Hamzan is heard reminding those who had received the RM100 to step away so that others could have a chance.

Sinar Harian later reported that the businessman was revealed to be Datuk Salim Abdul Rahman, who is said to be a millionaire and even has his own TikTok account.
Mixed reactions
In the comment section, there was a spectrum of reactions towards the clip, with some ranging from praise to skepticism.
Some praised Salim for his generosity and saw him as a role model for others to follow.

However, some were less convinced, with one netizen asking why isn’t the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigating the source of his wealth.
