Losing a loved one is one of the most devastating experiences one can face. This is especially true when it comes to losing a child.
Recently, a Malaysian family had to endure the pain of losing their seven-year-old son in a tragic accident.
What makes this loss even more poignant is that the boy had created a drawing that appeared to predict his own fate.
‘Becoming a baby again’
In the drawing, the boy, whose name was Aydan, depicted himself sleeping while his parents lay awake beside him.
He had even told his parents that he was going to bed first and asked them to join him later.
Another one of the sketches showed Aydan sleeping while swaddled in a blanket.
Just days before his death, Aydan’s mother Nor Hazwani Amir Hamzah shared the drawing on social media, along with a few other sketches created by her son.
When Hazwani asked why he had drawn himself but not his parents sleeping, her son replied that he was going to sleep first and that they could join him later.
He also explained that he had not drawn himself with hands and legs because he was ‘becoming a baby again’.
At the time, she did not think much of it and assumed it was just a drawing of a swaddling blanket. However, after his death, she realized that it was actually a shroud.
In another eerie coincidence, Hazwani shared a photo of her son’s shroud, which looked just like the swaddled figure in his drawing.
Collided with another motorcycle
According to Harian Metro, Aydan lost his life when his parents’ motorcycle collided with another vehicle while they were on their way to a mosque, upon Aydan’s request to conduct that day’s Terawih’s prayers at Masjid Al-Umm located at Seksyen 1, Bangi, Kajang
They had almost reached their destination when they hit another motorcycle in Seksyen 2, Bangi.
According to Hazwani, her child was immediately taken to Hospital Serdang for medical attention, but despite all efforts, they could not save the child.
Aydan, who suffered internal bleeding in his brain and abdomen, was pronounced dead the next day at approximately 7:20 am on the 5th of April.
‘He had wanted to become an artist’
Hazwani later reflected on the drawings and wondered if her son had had a premonition of his own death.
She believes that he left the drawings behind for his parents as a way of communicating with them from beyond the grave.
“I never expected his drawings to spread so widely after his departure,” she said.
“He had dreams of becoming an artist.”
The boy’s parents had plans to celebrate their wedding anniversary with their son, but instead, they were left to mourn his loss.
They had even picked out new clothes for the upcoming Raya celebration, choosing an all-black theme without knowing that death was about to darken their doorstep.
Now, the couple is considering moving to Johor, where their son is buried, to be closer to their only child.
This tragic story serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment with our loved ones.
