Whenever parents bring their children out to public places, it is expected of them to watch their kids and ensure they are not up to any shenanigans that result in property damage.
The parents of a young boy were recently blasted online by netizens after CCTV footage showed their son damaging a pair of expensive leather shoes while unsupervised.
M’sian boy scratches leather shoes with his nails
In a 14-second TikTok clip shared by Nurul Syuhada (@syuhad4.j) on Monday (Mar 17), it showed a young boy standing in front of a row of leather shoes being put on display and taking a quick glance at his surroundings.
After ensuring the coast was clear, the boy proceeded to run his nails against the leather shoes’ surface in a circular motion several times before walking off.

All throughout the clip, the boy’s parents were nowhere to be seen and were probably unaware of what their son had done to the leather shoes.
‘Can be polished but damage’s already done’
In the caption, Syuhada said the incident took place at Design Village Outlet Mall in Penang.
She also shared the aftermath of the boy’s actions in a separate video, where visible scratch marks could be seen on the leather shoes’ surface, rendering it visually unpleasant.

While Syuhada said the leather shoes were later polished to make it look less gnarly, she added some scratch marks were still visible, making it more difficult to sell it to customers.
She also called upon parents to keep a tighter eye on their children whenever they’re out at public spaces.
“Guys, please be aware of your kids and even though this kid wasn’t that young, we can still tell them to behave.
“As we are a shopping mall, our products are to be sold and not to be toys for children. If they want to play, they could perhaps go to the playground,” she wrote.

‘Where are his parents?!’
In the comment section, netizens weren’t too happy with the fact that the boy’s parents weren’t present to monitor him and roundly condemned them for it.
‘Find his parents. Ask them to buy the shoes.’

‘Ask for compensation from the boy’s parents, sis.’

Meanwhile, a netizen joked that the boy had a propensity for scratching things as he was probably born in the year of the Cat.

To all parents, please keep an eye on your children to ensure they don’t damage property or land themselves in danger!
