In a Threads post, the OP wrote that a staff member’s pet cat passed away and took half day emergency leave (EL) so that he could bury the animal and properly mourn its passing.
He then alleged that the boss showed not a single shred of compassion or empathy for the employee and instead made the following statement:
A cat dying is like a wife dying. It’s just a cat, why are you so sad?”
Needless to say, the boss’ remarks left the OP stunned, who was a cat owner himself, and this led him to wonder whether it was the appropriate response.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, netizens wasted no time in bashing the boss for making the callous remark.
