We all probably had our fair share of dealing with stingy bosses, but this one might just take the cake.
A former employee recently took to social media to slam her ex-boss for dragging his feet over paying out bonuses, but demanding that money spent on having tea breaks be returned immediately.
Joined company with high expectations
In the lengthy Facebook post, the OP wrote that she worked at a company that specialised in giving awards to “outstanding Malaysian entrepreneurs” for a year.
She admitted that when she first joined as a marketing executive, she harboured high hopes and expectations in the job.

“The company made it very clear to me that my responsibility was to invite entrepreneurs to participate in the award program.
“Whenever one agreed to join, I would receive a commission bonus,” she wrote.
Was never paid her bonuses
The OP said that although she wasn’t the company’s top performer, she did manage to rein in a number of entrepreneurs, leaving her with a sense of satisfaction over each successful deal.

However, that satisfaction was dampened when she noticed that the company never paid her a single cent of the promised bonuses.
To make matters worse, whenever she asked her boss when she would receive the bonuses, his reply was always the same: “We’ll handle it.”
Left…but on one condition
After a year of disappointment, the OP decided to resign and served her notice period.
But on her final day of work, her boss made a request that sent her jaw dropping to the floor.
He told me that I needed to return the money I spent on tea breaks. How much was it, you ask? It was RM26.75.

“At that moment, I honestly didn’t know whether to laugh or throw up. This was a boss who pretended nothing happened when a year’s worth of bonuses were unpaid, but demanded that a RM26.75 bill must be settled immediately.”
Wanting to be rid of the situation, the OP immediately paid the amount, adding yet another bitter notch to her already negative experience.
She also claimed that the company never thanked her for her past contribution or bade her farewell.

“When I walked out of that company, there was only one feeling left in my heart: I took this job seriously. I just never expected that in the end, the thing that left the deepest impression on me wasn’t my achievements, but RM26.75.”
