M’sian Border Agency Brings Cake To SG Checkpoint To Celebrate Singapore’s 60th Birthday

🤝
On 7 Aug 2025, the Malaysian Control & Border Protection Agency (MCBA) made a goodwill visit to Singapore’s Woodlands Checkpoint and they brought cake.

The delegation from Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration & Quarantine Complex (CIQ) was warmly received by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) Land Domain Commander.

Celebrating Singapore’s 60th National Day

The visit took place just days before Singapore’s National Day on Aug 9, which marks the country’s 60th year since its independence in 1965.

To commemorate the occasion, MCBA presented a specially decorated cake featuring the Singapore flag, the number “SG60,” and cartoon figures of people in various ethnic attire — a nod to Singapore’s multi-cultural identity.

Photos from the event show senior officers from both sides gathered for group shots, handshakes, and, of course, the ceremonial cake handover.

Strengthening cross-border ties

ICA expressed appreciation for the thoughtful gesture and said they look forward to further strengthening cooperation with MCBA.

Both agencies work closely to manage the busy Johor–Singapore land borders, which see hundreds of thousands of travellers crossing daily.

This collaboration is key to ensuring smooth trade, safe travels, and security at the Causeway.
