M’sian Baby Girl Left Behind At Melaka Daycare For 3 Months, Authorities Looking For Parents

She was dropped off by a man and a woman in their 40's.
The Melaka Social Welfare Department (JKM) is currently trying to trace the biological mother or next-of-kin of a baby girl who was left at a childcare centre (Taska) in Semabok earlier this year.

According to Sinar Harian, the baby, is believed to be three to four months old at the time, was dropped off at the daycare by a man and a woman on March 17.

Left without identification

CCTV footage showed the individuals, estimated to be in their 40s, arriving at the daycare wearing blue and red clothing. However, they have not returned since.

JKM said the baby was left without any identification documents and was never picked up after March 19.

The baby girl, who is now known as Arisa, has since been placed under the care of the Social Welfare Department (JKM). She has remained in the department’s custody since she was not picked up from the childcare centre.

Without any identification documents or guardians coming forward, authorities have no choice but to begin formal care procedures to ensure her safety and well-being. Arisa is currently being looked after while JKM works to determine the next step of action.

Investigations are being carried out under Section 17(1)(d) of the Child Act 2001, a provision that deals with cases involving children who have been abandoned or neglected by their parents or guardians.

JKM urges family to come forward

JKM Melaka is urging the biological mother or any family members to come forward and assist in the child’s welfare process.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Child Protector or the Melaka Tengah District Social Welfare Office at 06-3333333.
