Most people at an airshow usually have their eyes fixed on the skies — but one man on the ground managed to steal the spotlight.
A Malaysian Royal Air Force plane marshaller recently became an internet sensation after a TikTok video showed him directing aircraft with a surprising twist: using silat, a traditional Malay martial art, along with some seriously funny moves.
A full-on commanding performance
Uploaded by TikTok user @wankhairunisham, the now-viral video shows the marshaller skillfully guiding a fighter jet for takeoff.
But instead of sticking to the standard hand signals, he threw in dramatic martial arts-style gestures, somersaults, and even ended with a salute worthy of an action movie.

The unexpected performance had viewers in stitches, and the video quickly racked up over 380,000 views and 20,000 likes.
In a second clip, the marshaller dialled up the theatrics — mimicking pulling the plane with invisible superpowers, acting like a SWAT officer, and forming finger guns, all while staying perfectly in sync with his professional role. Unsurprisingly, this video also went viral.
Even the army shared it
Many netizens commented that they couldn’t stop laughing, praising the marshaller for his humour and creativity.
Several pointed out that he didn’t even need to say a word to show how much he loved his job.

“Aircraft marshaller… love watching this 👏👏👏”

“He’s enjoying his job. There’s a simple way to marshall aircraft, but this is really his way of releasing work stress. Maybe do more research before criticising 🤣”
