M’sian Actress Scammed Of RM120 After Buying Fake Rembayung Booking Slot On Threads

She suspected something was off but still took the risk.
Malaysian actress and singer Daiyan Trisha recently shared that she was scammed after purchasing a restaurant reservation slot through social media.

The incident involved a booking for the popular restaurant Rembayung, which she bought through a seller on Threads.

Although the amount lost was not large, Daiyan said she decided to speak up to remind others to be more cautious when dealing with strangers online.

Reported by mStar, the 33 year old said she and her friends purchased the reservation slot from an individual named “Dayang” on the Threads platform.

According to Daiyan, she already had some doubts about the deal at the beginning.

However, they decided to proceed anyway while mentally preparing for the possibility that it could be a scam.

“We actually bought the reservation slot from someone named Dayang on Threads,” she said.

At first I already felt a bit suspicious. So we were prepared for a 50/50 situation. If we got scammed, we would just go to another restaurant. If it worked out, then Alhamdulillah.”

Seller disappeared after payment

Unfortunately, their concerns turned out to be true.

Daiyan revealed that after the payment was made, the reservation did not exist.

She added that the seller’s Threads account also disappeared afterwards.

“It turns out we really did get scammed and the person’s name was Dayang. I still have the bank account number.

When I checked again later, the Threads account was already gone,” she said.

Loss was small but others travelled far

When asked about the amount lost, Daiyan said the total was around RM120.

She explained that the amount itself was not a big issue for her.

However, she felt sympathy for others who had travelled from far away to dine at the restaurant, only to find out the reservation they purchased did not exist.

Because of this, she decided to share her experience publicly as a reminder for people to be more careful when making online purchases or reservations through social media.

Daiyan also urged the public not to easily trust individuals selling deals online, especially if the transaction requires transferring money to personal bank accounts.
