Malaysia has found itself earning a spot in the best countries for work-life balance list recently released by Remote, where it was ranked as the second best country in the whole of Asia.
According to the report, Malaysia scored 57.03 out of 100 points on the index thanks to the fact that employees enjoy 19 days of annual leave and a paid sick leave ranging between 80% to 100%.

As for healthcare access, it is covered under a government-funded system, and the happiness score stood at 5.96.
Globally, it secured the 27th spot out of 60 countries evaluated in the report.
What the ranking is based on
The index by Remote takes factors such as statutory leave, healthcare access, public safety, and average weekly working hours into consideration.
In its report, Remote stated that “life-work balance is about so much more than time management” as economic, technological, and societal factors greatly impact the world’s workforce.

“it’s crucial we drive home the importance of personal and professional harmony and we continue to publish our annual report to emphasise the growing need for life-work balance across the globe, shining a light on the nations that are leading the charge, as well as those with work still to do.”
Who else is on the list?
Not surprisingly, Singapore took the top spot with a score of 57.85 and several other Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and Indonesia made into the list as well.

New Zealand was ranked as the best country in the world for work-life balance, scoring 86.87. It was followed by Ireland (81.17), Belgium (75.91), Germany (74.65), and Norway (74.20).
New Zealand has consistently held the top spot for three consecutive years and its high score is partly due to the country’s rising minimum wage and progressive employee policies.
