The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Grand Final in Indonesia recently concluded with an electric atmosphere as two of the country’s esports giants clashed for the championship title and a prize pool of $298,000 (approx. RM1,200,000).
However, what began as a celebration of e-sports excellence ended on a sour note when a popular Indonesian influencer known as ‘Dokter MLBB’ shared a video revealing the aftermath of the event—a venue littered with trash.
E-sports venue filled with rubbish
In the video, heaps of discarded food containers, drink cups, and plastic waste were seen scattered across the venue, painting a stark contrast to the grandeur of the tournament.
Visitors who remained at the scene appeared unfazed by the mess surrounding them, with some resting near the trash without reacting to the unsightly conditions.

‘Dokter’ MLBB voiced his frustration, saying there’s little point in hosting such a high-profile final if spectators cannot display basic discipline and respect for cleanliness.
Could taint the public image of esports
He emphasized that no matter how successful the tournament is, poor hygiene habits can taint the public image of the esports scene.
“To grow a more sustainable esports community, every individual must start with small actions—like throwing their trash into bins,” he stressed, calling it the foundation for earning public respect.

In bold text over his video, he wrote:
MPL ID is already solid, but the discipline of the spectators also needs to be solid. This isn’t for clout—it’s a wake-up call for future events to be more orderly.”
Netizens’ reaction
The video sparked debate among Indonesian netizens, with some blaming fans for the mess, while others argued it was the cleaners’ job.
A few even pointed out that Malaysia’s MPL venues were much cleaner.
“Look at MPL MY in Malaysia, the studio is clean and the trash disappears right after the match ends—unlike the MPL ID studio.”

“Bro, don’t you know this is INDONESIA? People here no longer care about the environment.”

“There are cleaners, right? Then what’s the point of having them?”
