If you catch a rat at Pasar Pekan Ampang, Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) will pay you RM3 per rat.
The campaign, which started on July 8 and runs until July 25, is aimed at tackling the rodent problem at Pasar Pekan Ampang and nearby areas.
Traders in the area can head to the claim counter, which operates Monday to Friday, from 9:30AM to 12PM at the Pasar Pekan Ampang compound, to exchange their “catch” for cash.
Open to all vendors and traders in the area, the campaign is part of MPAJ’s joint initiative with JKP Zon 8 to improve cleanliness and raise awareness about rat-borne diseases like leptospirosis.
According to MPAJ, this effort aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

So if you’re selling at the market and spot a rat, now’s your chance to make RM3 while keeping the place clean.
