Yesterday (August 2), Malaysia recorded the highest COVID-19 fatalities in a single day with 219 deaths, which brings a total death tolls of 9,403. Yet again highlighting the severity of the country’s COVID-19 predicament.
In a recent tweet by @nuyulhuda, she recounted her dreadful experience when her whole family was infected with COVID-19.
Her family rushed to the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) in Petaling Jaya for treatment after they tested positive for the virus. She also brought her 7-month-old baby who was sick with fever.
My 7-month-old son has had fever for the past four days. However, the CAC sent us home, without any medication” – she tweeted.
Unfortunately, her son’s fever took a turn for the worse.
Feeling worried, @nuyulhuda contacted CAC and various hospitals for help. Unfortunately, the wards were filled and staff overwhelmed. While they did not deny admission for her son, they informed her that the wait will be long.
As a last resort, she brought her son to a hospital in Kajang for treatment. In desperation, she begged the doctors and nurses there to treat him.
In the end, her son was able to receive prescriptions for antibiotics.
For 9 days, I had to ‘fight’ to get antibiotics for my son. 9 days that I will never forget.”
She was not just fighting for her son’s life but for her own too.
After completing their required quarantine, the family is finally back home. Her son had, too, recovered well.
Now that the storm has finally calmed for her family, @nuyulhuda thanked God and her friends for their support throughout this difficulty.
No parent, child or even individual should have gone through this amount of mental stress for wanting simple health care.
We continue to wish @nuyulhuda and her family well.
