The Ministry of Education (MOE) has approved a RM3 million budget to boost safety at schools under its care.
The funds will go towards installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems at selected boarding schools across the country.
It said the initiative will begin immediately, with plans to eventually expand the installations to all boarding schools nationwide.
According to MOE, this move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen monitoring, prevent unwanted incidents, and create a safe and conducive environment for students.
This comes on the heels of another recent directive, where students in schools nationwide are now required to chant “We Hate Bullying” (“Kami benci buli”) before classes begin and again before school ends.
Director-General of Education Dr. Mohd. Azam Ahmad said the chant is meant to reshape students’ mentality, instill zero-tolerance towards bullying, and reinforce collective responsibility in keeping schools safe.
