Malaysia’s 5th Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, was laid to rest today (April 15), and among the many who came to pay their final respects was Malaysia-born international actress, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh.
The Oscar-winning Wicked star was spotted at the funeral held at Masjid Negara (National Mosque), with media capturing her quiet presence at the solemn event.
Dressed modestly in a shawl, Michelle’s attendance moved many Malaysians, who praised her for taking the time to honour the late statesman.
Michelle, who hails from Ipoh, Perak, wasn’t the only well-known face at the ceremony.
Veteran singer Datuk Ramli Sarip was also present, alongside former Prime Ministers Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Tun Abdullah, affectionately known as Pak Lah, passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at 7:10PM yesterday (April 14) at the age of 85.
His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in Malaysia’s political history, and today’s gathering was a powerful reminder of the respect and admiration he commanded across generations.
