Malaysian icon Michelle Yeoh has once again made the nation proud.
The Oscar winning actress officially received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, becoming the first Malaysian to be honoured with the prestigious recognition today (Feb 19).
A historic milestone in Hollywood
According to official website, Yeoh’s star is the 2,836th to be added to the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She was honoured in the Motion Pictures category during a ceremony held near the historic TCL Chinese Theatre.
Celebrating a groundbreaking career
The official Hollywood Walk of Fame Instagram account also commemorated the occasion, highlighting Yeoh’s Academy Award winning performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once, as well as her iconic roles in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Crazy Rich Asians and Memoirs of a Geisha.
The post described her career as one that has redefined representation and excellence in film, praising her for continuing to inspire audiences worldwide.
In 2023, Yeoh made history by becoming the first Asian performer to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. She was also the first Malaysian to win an Oscar.

From her early days in Hong Kong action cinema to becoming a Hollywood powerhouse, Yeoh’s journey has spanned decades and continents.
