Buying a car is no doubt a dream that everyone wants to see fulfilled, but often times it requires lots of prior research and planning as it’s a huge financial commitment.
A car salesman recently took to social media to express his disbelief over a young man wanting to purchase a Mercedes which was 100 times more than what he earned.
Wanted to buy Mercedes with RM3K salary
In a viral Threads post, the car salesman named Umar wrote that he was approached by a man who said that he was looking to buy a Mercedes for himself.
According to one of the screenshots attached with the post, the car he wanted was a Mercedes-Benz A45S 4Matic Plus, which came with a price tag of RM312,000.
However, there was a huge problem: the young man revealed that his basic salary was a mere RM3,000, an amount that was definitely not enough to cover the downpayment, let alone the entire car.
Based on another screenshot, paying 10% of the downpayment was going to cost the man RM3,161 in monthly installments, something his salary couldn’t cover.
Needless to say, Umar was left feeling frustrated and baffled by the naivety of youths when it comes to buying a car, where he wrote the following in the caption:
I’m having a headache over youths who are just about to start their lives these days. They have a big appetite and want to buy cars that have a monthly cost higher than their salary.
“This is the kind of thing you have to control your emotions when you meet such people.”

‘I’ve been selling secondhand cars since 2021 and what I can say is that kids nowadays have insatiable appetites. When I point it out to them, they say I’m judging them on their salary.’
