KEDAH – The youngest mayor of Eastvale(Riverside County) in California, Jocelyn Yow, is a 25-year-old woman of Kedah, Malaysia.
According to Yahoo! News, she is the daughter of a Vietnamese refugee and a Malaysian Chinese who brought her family to settle down in Eastvale in 2011. Yow is also the new mom of a 6-month-old baby boy.
She graduated from SJK(C) Keat Hwa (K) in 2006 and moved to Eastvale with her parents after completing her secondary education at SMJK Keat Hwa in 2011.
According to the photo in the graduation magazine, Jocelyn Yow’s neat haircut makes her confident.
Her father is also the former president of the Lion Club of Alor Star.
It was reported that Jocelyn Yow was one of California’s youngest Asian city councillor back in 2018, making her the youngest female mayor in the state.
Besides, Jocelyn gave birth to a baby boy in June. She said she was
honoured to have the opportunity to serve as mayor of Eastvale, a city which she is incredibly proud of, and that being a mom inspired her to serve the community.
She believes that local government decisions affect the daily lives of citizens and she is committed to continuing to serve the city and ensure a bright future for the next generation of Eastvale residents.
Jocelyn graduated from Norco Collge and UC Berkeley and is currently on the policy tour for IGNITE, a US non-profit organisation.
She previously worked as an aide in the office of Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
