A reckless street racing incident turned deadly yesterday (Apr 20) when a group of motorcyclists ran a red light and crashed into a turning car, killing one rider and seriously injuring two others.
According to New Straits Times, the fatal accident took place at around 4.10am at the Kampung Raja Uda junction in Port Klang, involving a white local sedan and three motorcycles.
Ran red light
According to South Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa, the car was making a legal right turn into Jalan Kim Chuan after the light turned green.
However, a large group of motorcyclists coming from Klang and heading towards Port Klang sped through the red light and slammed into the turning vehicle.

Three motorcycles were involved in the crash. One rider, aged 22, died at the scene due to severe head and body injuries,” said Nalika in a statement.
“The two others, a 16-year-old student who suffered a serious injury to his left leg, and a 22-year-old factory worker with multiple injuries, were rushed to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for emergency treatment.”
Car driver reportedly unharmed
Video footage circulating on social media shows dozens of motorcycles racing at high speed before slamming into the white sedan.
The aftermath was chaotic, with shattered motorcycle parts strewn across the road and several bikes lying on the ground. A crowd of riders were seen quickly gathering around the crash site.

Fortunately, the driver of the car escaped the accident unharmed.
Believed to be participating in illegal racing
Police believe the riders were participating in illegal racing activities and have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death.
Members of the public with any information are urged to contact investigating officer Mohamad Khairul Nizam at 010-2452144.
Authorities are reminding road users to drive responsibly and have called on parents and guardians to monitor their teenage children to prevent involvement in illegal and dangerous street racing activities.
