MAS Named World’s Fastest-Growing Airline Brand in 2025

AirAsia also found itself climbing the global rankings.
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has achieved a significant milestone by being named the world’s fastest-growing airline brand in the ‘Brand Finance Airlines 50 2025’ report.

The national carrier’s brand value soared by 209% to USD 607 million, marking its return to the global rankings at 45th place after a decade-long absence. ​

Strategic initiatives contributed to the growth

According to Brand Finance, this remarkable growth is attributed to strategic initiatives including fleet renewal, route realignments, digital transformation, and international expansion.

The airline also earned a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 78.2 out of 100 and an AA+ brand strength rating, reflecting strong domestic loyalty and trust. ​

AirAsia now ranks 24th globally

According to ​Malay Mail, low-cost carrier AirAsia also made notable progress, climbing two positions to rank 24th globally.

Its brand value increased by 66% to USD 1.9 billion, supported by strong financial performance, high passenger load factors, and strategic network expansions, including new routes to Chongqing, China, and Nairobi, Kenya.

AirAsia now ranks as the world’s 11th strongest airline brand, with a BSI score of 84.2 and a AAA- rating.

Alex Haigh, Managing Director Asia-Pacific at Brand Finance, highlighted the achievements of both airlines, stating that Malaysia Airlines’ resurgence underscores the success of its strategic transformation, while AirAsia continues to demonstrate resilience and financial agility.

Together, these carriers showcase the strength and dynamic potential of Malaysia’s aviation industry on the global stage.
