For Malaysian students looking to pursue their diploma or degree, they first have to pass their SPM exam before taking the next step.
A local woman recently shared her dilemma over whether she should give SPM another shot after she didn’t do so well during her first attempt 11 years ago.

Married M’sian woman asks whether she should retake SPM
In a Threads post, the woman revealed that she was already married and first sat for SPM back in 2014.
However, her grades weren’t exactly exemplary, as seen from a photo which showed how much she scored for the following subjects:
- C+ for Bahasa Melayu, Sejarah, Perdagangan, and Ekonomi Asas
- D for English
- E for Mathematics
- B+ for Science
- G (Fail) for Bahasa Arab

The woman then asked netizens whether she should consider retaking SPM based on her results as well as their opinions on the matter.

In the comment thread, some netizens encouraging the woman to re-sit the national exam, with one sharing how her friend did the same in her early 30s and is now a corporate lawyer.


On the other hand, some felt it was an impractical move to retake SPM, given the fact that the syllabus has largely changed.
They also advised the woman to spend time and money on building her practical and technical skills instead of retaking SPM.
