A newly married couple in Bhopal, India, has approached the family court for divorce after constant fights between their pets reportedly created rifts in their relationship.
The couple, who tied the knot in December 2024, has been married for only eight months but is already struggling to save their relationship.

Love for pets turns into conflict
Before marriage, the husband and wife bonded over their shared love for animals.
According to India Today, the husband, a Bhopal resident, already had a pet dog, a rabbit, and a fish tank. The wife, who is from Uttar Pradesh, brought along her pet cat after the wedding.
Initially, everything seemed fine. However, tensions began when the husband’s dog allegedly “continuously barked” at the wife’s cat, leaving it scared and stressed.
According to the wife, her cat was so anxious that it sometimes refused to eat.
The husband, on the other hand, claimed that the wife’s cat often “sat near the fish tank staring at the fish” and had “turned violent towards the dog several times.”
Arguments led to divorce decision
As the animals continued to fight, arguments between the couple escalated.

What started as small disputes eventually led them to approach the family court for divorce.
Counselor Shail Awasthi, who is handling the matter, said the couple’s issues have been ongoing for some time despite their short marriage.
One round of counselling has already taken place, and the next session is scheduled in October,” he said.

Both the husband and wife are reportedly still trying to decide whether their marriage can be saved.
