A man in Singapore was filmed yelling at the top of his lungs at several SMRT staff at the Choa Chu Kang LRT station recently.
While the reason for his outburst currently remains unknown, police have been alerted of the incident and are looking into it.
Losing his cool
In a clip shared to Instagram by @sgfollowsall, it showed the man gesturing aggressively at the SMRT staff while yelling “You’re nothing but a prostitute!” several times.
One of the staff is seen covering her ears in an attempt to shut out the man’s ear-piercing screeches.
And it seems that the man’s bizarre behaviour wasn’t an isolated incident, where another clip showed him screaming the same phrase along with what sounded like “go and die” while onboard an LRT train.
Meanwhile, another clip on TikTok showed the man sitting on the platform and yelling at a staff member who was trying to calm him down by patting his back as curious passengers looked on.
Police probing incident
An SMRT spokesperson later told Mothership a police report was lodged and that they are cooperating with investigations.
The spokesperson added that SMRT was aware of the incident that took place at Choa Chu Kang station on the Bukit Panjang LRT (BPLRT).
“We take such incidents seriously and will not hesitate to report any abuse of public transport workers to the authorities. We strongly encourage everyone to respect our staff as they work hard to keep public transport services running.
“A police report has been filed, and we are cooperating with the police in their investigations.”
Reactions
Responses towards the man’s outburst ranged between amusement, mockery, and pity.
One joked that the man’s screams were going to be his new alarm ringtone.
Another questioned whether the man had forgotten to take his medication before leaving the house.
On the other hand, some called for sympathy to be shown towards the man as he was displaying clear signs of mental illness.
