A man who made a 7-month-old baby “smoke” vape in a viral video has been arrested on Monday.
According to a statement by Johor police, the 23-year-old suspect was apprehended by a criminal investigation unit at 12.45pm after the baby’s mother lodged a police report last Saturday (Aug 6).

Johor Bahru North district police chief ACP Rupiah Abd Wahid said the suspect was a friend of the mother’s younger sister.
“According to the baby’s mum, the suspect – who was carrying her daughter at the time – was joking around before inserting a non-functioning vape into the girl’s mouth,” she said.

The video has sparked a storm of outrage online, where netizens called for authorities to take stern action against the suspect for endangering the baby’s health.
The Star reported that the suspect has been remanded for five days and faces a jail term of up to 20 years, a RM50,000 fine, or both if convicted.
