“They demanded for my IC, and as soon as I handed it over, they said they wanted my backpack too.”

Muhd Izani claimed one of the policemen accused him of having illegal items on him while checking his backpack and wallet. When he vehemently denied the charges, he was punched in the stomach.

“They also asked me whether I was capable of ‘paying’ them or not.

“I was stunned and did not know what they meant before the money in my wallet was taken away.”

Realising the gravity of the situation, Muhd Izani pleaded with the policemen to return him the money as he needed it to pay for his motorcycle insurance, road tax, and rental fees.

After much pleading, the policemen returned him RM30 and pocketed the rest before heading towards Kota Bahru.

Muhd Izani has since lodged a police report at the Machang District Police Headquarters (IPD) last Friday and still remains in shock over the incident.

Machang District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Ganti Jimmy confirmed the incident and said the case would be investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion.
