After a long, hard day at work, the first thing one would look forward to is either sinking onto the couch or have a massage to get rid of their body aches.
Unfortunately for one man in China, he was left with an unwelcome addition to his body after doctors found a cyst at his groin area following a full body massage.
Had full body massage
According to a report by HK01, the incident took place at Hangzhou in the Zhejiang province in China.
The man surnamed Du (transliteration) shared that he visited a foot spa to have a full body massage, which cost him 598 yuan (approx. RM354).

The following day however, Du felt intense discomfort in the lower part of his body and had difficulty moving.
To his shock, doctors later revealed to him that he had an epididymal cyst, which is a fluid-filled pocket that forms in the epididymis, a coiled tube in the back of the testicle that stores and transports sperm.
Although the cause for epididymal cysts is still unknown, most doctors agree that it’s usually due to bacterial infection or inflammation.
Thankfully, these cysts are largely non-cancerous and can be removed via surgery.

Seeking compensation for cyst in groin area
Following the terrible discovery of the cyst’s existence, Du recalled that a masseuse had massage his groin area.
I felt a bit uncomfortable but didn’t think much of it. But I never expected it to become this bad the next day, where I couldn’t even walk,” he said.
As such, he’s currently seeking around 50,000 yuan (approx. RM29,600) in compensation from the foot spa.
In response, the foot spa said they have already paid for Du’s medical expenses and are sincere in their efforts to settle the matter amicably.

However, it disputed that 50,000 yuan compensation sought by Du, saying it was unreasonable.
“We are not shirking responsibility, but an epididymal cyst can be caused by various factors, and the hospital did not definitively state it was due to the massage.
“While we are willing to provide reasonable compensation, the amount must be based on the actual situation.”
