TRIGGER WARNING
The content below contains graphic details that may be harmful or traumatizing for some.
Residents of a flat in Seremban were jolted by what they initially thought was the sound of thunder as it was raining heavily yesterday (May 19).
To their horror, it turned out that the loud sound was actually the sound of a man’s body hitting the metal roof of a shop lot located near the flat.
According to Sin Chew Daily, the tragedy occurred at around 3.20pm, where the victim was identified as 48-year-old Luo Yuehua (transliteration).

Victim slipped his way into flat
According to a hawker named Lim, who runs a noodle stall on the ground floor of the flat, he told China Press that he saw Luo loitering near the electronic grille door of Block A.
When Luo saw Lim, he asked him to open the electronic grille door for him, claiming he had forgotten to take his house keys with him. However, Lim refused and told Luo to contact his family to open the door for him.
CCTV footage showed that Luo eventually managed to enter the block and taking the lift after seizing the opportunity to slip his way in after a resident opened the electronic grille door.

Moments later, Luo’s body was found on top of the metal roof, where it’s believed he had fallen from the 10th floor or higher.
Photos of the aftermath showed firefighters retrieving Luo’s body from the roof which was damaged by the impact of his fall, as well as a worker washing away the bloody trail left behind by the tragedy.

ADUN vows stronger preventive action
Lobak state assemblyperson Chew Seh Yong, who rushed to the scene after hearing of Luo’s demise, told China Press wire mesh barriers were previously installed along the lift corridor walls of the block to prevent individuals from climbing over and leaping to their deaths.
Although some residents initially expressed opposition to the idea, Chew said he plans to re-engage residents in discussions to secure funding for installing wire mesh barriers on all walls in front of residential units following Luo’s passing.

“We’ve been making an effort for the past few years to upgrade the facilities at Block 14 and rebrand it as an ‘auspicious block’ as the last suicide incident took place on Dec 29, 2021.
“Though the latest incident is a disappointment, I won’t be discouraged in my efforts,” he said.
