Aside from being a popular place to have hotpot meals with friends and family, Haidilao occasionally also makes headlines for its generous salary as well.
A recent clip posted by Chinese content creator Xavier Chen recently brought the topic of Haidilao’s high salary back into the limelight again, where a staff revealed his startling earnings as a trainee manager.
Earns RM33,000 as Haidilao trainee manager
In the close to 3-minute clip, Xavier approaches a man dressed in the iconic black Haidilao uniform and asks him how much does he earn monthly by working in Singapore.
In response, the man named Ronghui said he earns around S$10,000 (approx. RM33,000) a month working as a trainee manager at Haidilao’s Plaza Singapura outlet.

He added that he has held the position for the past six years before inviting Xavier to have a hotpot meal with him at his workplace.
While sharing with Xavier what his job entails, Ronghui said that although his job title is that of trainee manager, he still has a store manager above him.

He shared that all employees are entitled to staff meals, where a chef will prepare their lunch every day, adding that he personally eats hotpot meals at least three times a week with a 50% staff discount.
Interestingly, Ronghui revealed that aside from his high salary, he also receives tips from customers, with the highest tip being at S$1,000 (approx. RM3,300).
‘His salary is an exception’
When queried by Mothership regarding the clip, Haidilao clarified that Ronghui’s RM33,000 salary was “an exception”.
It added that the salary figure was affected by a “unique combination of factors, including store location, specialised role, and extensive working hours”.

Our salary structure was designed to reflect these variables. As such, Ronghui’s case should not be seen as representative of the average income.
“We are committed to offering competitive compensation and growth opportunities, recognising that dedication and hard work can lead to remarkable achievements”.
