A man who claimed to be Malaysian got caught during an immigration raid in Bandar Sunway when he couldn’t sing the national anthem.
According to Sinar Harian, the Immigration Department carried out a raid at an apartment complex on Thursday (May 22).
During the inspection, a man in his 30s insisted he was a local. But when officers asked him to sing ‘Negaraku’ to prove it, he froze and said he forgot the lyrics.
That pretty much ended the act.

Some tried hiding on rooftops, others just ran
He wasn’t the only one who panicked.
Several others in the building refused to open their doors, climbed onto rooftops to hide, or tried escaping when they saw the officers arrive.
Authorities also found several residential units that had been illegally renovated. Some were turned into small sundry shops, while others had been divided into tiny rental rooms for other foreigners.
Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon said these changes were done without any approval.
So far this year, the council has received 22 complaints about misuse of residential properties. Another 11 have already been reported in 2025.
Over 500 undocumented migrants detained
The operation, codenamed Ops Mega, inspected nearly 1,600 foreign nationals. Out of those, 597 were found to be undocumented migrants.
Authorities say these raids will continue to ensure public safety and law enforcement.
