Man Arrested For Using Someone Else’s MyKad To Redeem BUDI95 Fuel Subsidy

JPN arrested the suspect following a complaint lodged by the rightful MyKad owner.
A local man has been arrested after allegedly using another person’s MyKad to redeem the BUDI95 fuel subsidy at a petrol station in Negeri Sembilan.

In a statement, the National Registration Department said its Enforcement Division arrested the suspect following a complaint lodged by the rightful MyKad owner, who discovered that BUDI95 redemptions had been made under their name without their knowledge.

Preliminary investigations found that the 42 year old man had used the MyKad at a Petron petrol station in Gemencheh to redeem subsidised fuel.

The suspect was arrested at around 12pm at a PPRT house in Kampung Baru, Sungai Lerek.

According to the department, the case is being investigated under Regulation 25(1)(e) and Regulation 25(1)(o) of the National Registration Regulations 1990, amended in 2007, for possessing and using an identity card that does not belong to the holder.

The National Registration Department added that an application for a remand order will be made at the Tampin Magistrates Court on 27 December to allow further investigations to be carried out.

In its statement, the department stressed that possessing or using someone else’s MyKad for any purpose, including the redemption of government assistance or subsidies, is a serious offence and may result in legal action.

Members of the public who find a MyKad are advised to immediately hand it over to the National Registration Department or the nearest police station to prevent misuse.
