Man Accused Of Stealing Vape Device Allegedly Stabbed In The Eye With Glass Shard In JB

The suspect was a Singaporean debt collector and social media influencer.
A 23-year-old man was brutally attacked by his employee, a Singaporean debt collector and social media influencer, at Plaza Sentosa in Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru on Sept 6.

Due to the attack, he was left with multiple stitches on his head, body, and fingers, bruises, and an eye that was visibly blood-red.

According to China Press, the victim’s older brother said his younger sibling was hired by the suspect as a private driver to take him from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru three days prior to the attack.

When they arrived, the suspect went to an entertainment outlet and the victim tagged along as part of his job.

The victim’s brother alleged that the suspect was under the influence of drugs and that a friend of his accused the victim of stealing a vape device.

The suspect’s friend then ordered the suspect to squat under the table to look for the vape device. When the latter did so, he got assaulted.

The suspect struck my brother’s head with a glass cup with such force that the cup shattered and injured his head. He then stabbed my brother’s eye with the broken glass.

“He tried to defend himself as the suspect attempted to stab his neck and face while repeatedly threatening to kill him and our family,” said the victim’s brother.

The victim also suffered a severed tendon in his thumb due to the attack.

Police hunting down suspect

Meanwhile, NST reported the victim lodged a police report on Sept 7, prompting the suspect to go into hiding.

The English daily also discovered that a Singapore phone number advertised on social media was linked to a debt-collecting agency that had ties with the suspect.

Johor Bahru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat confirmed the report and said the case is being probed under Sections 326 and 394 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and robbery with hurt.
