The recent gas pipeline leak and explosion in Putra Heights has shaken the local community, causing serious property damage, injuries, and sparking widespread concerns about residential safety in the area.
Now, the impact may have extended to the local real estate market, with a luxury home in the vicinity making headlines for being listed at a drastic markdown.
Price drop by almost 3.4million
According to Facebook post by “KL & Selangor Property Auction”, a luxury two-storey bungalow located near the explosion site has been listed in an online auction at RM3.33 million — nearly half its original market value of RM6.7 million.
The price drop has triggered heated discussion online, with many attributing it to the area’s damaged reputation and ongoing safety worries.
According to the post, the bungalow spans a massive 15,604 square feet, includes a private swimming pool, and is a freehold property — giving buyers full and permanent ownership of the land.
Despite its high-end features, the home is currently in its seventh round of auction and has yet to find a buyer. The auction is set to continue until the end of the month.
Interestingly, the featuring the listing was made on the same day, hours after the explosion occurred. This suggests that the markdown might not have been directly caused by the incident — but given the current sentiment, many believe the property’s value could drop even further in the aftermath.
Netizens’ reaction
Even with the markdown, many netizens have expressed hesitation, pointing out that the bungalow is situated in what they describe as the “core zone” of the explosion.
