A male ginger cat that went missing from Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, was found some 350 kilometres away in Sekinchan, Selangor, in what many netizens have called an unbelievable journey.
According to the cat’s owner, Marya Mohd Noor, the two-year-old cat named Oyen is believed to have accidentally hitched a ride on a fire department vehicle before possibly boarding a lorry that took him all the way to Selangor.
The feline recently went viral on social media after firefighters from the Sekinchan Fire and Rescue Station discovered him at their premises.
Possible ride on fire truck
According to Kosmo!, Marya said the family was initially puzzled about how Oyen could have travelled such a long distance.
However, after retracing recent events, she believes the cat may have climbed onto a fire truck that came to their home on Dec 21 to destroy a hornets’ nest in their yard.

She added that many lorries and trailers are often parked outside the fire station.
“From there, Oyen may have climbed onto a lorry and travelled straight to Sekinchan. The firefighters there also told us that many lorries park near their station, so perhaps Oyen got off the vehicle and wandered into the station,” she explained.
Marya also did not rule out another possibility, saying Oyen may have boarded a neighbour’s lorry that is often parked near their home without the driver realising it.
Family only realised days later
Marya shared that the family only realised Oyen was missing after receiving a call from firefighters in Sekinchan on Dec 23.
She added that Oyen usually roams outside but would always return home.

The timing of his disappearance coincided with the family being busy preparing for the wedding reception of their eldest daughter Rabiatul Adawiyah which took place on Dec 22.
Maybe Oyen was sulking because all of us were busy with the wedding preparations,” she said in jest.
As of now, Oyen remains in Sekinchan and the family plans to travel there to bring him home.
