A terrifying multi-vehicle accident on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) Highway has claimed three lives and injured four others after a lorry lost control and slammed into oncoming traffic, with witnesses describing the vehicle as a “flying lorry”.
The crash occurred around 4.45pm on Sunday (Mar 30) at KM50.7 near Lentang, as a lorry heading from Kuantan allegedly lost control, crashed through the road divider, and ploughed into the opposite lane, hitting multiple vehicles.

The impact involved five vehicles, including a 5-tonne lorry, a Honda Accord, a Proton Waja, a Proton Saga and a Subaru.
Family in Honda Accord hit the hardest
According to Harian Metro, Bentong District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, said they received a call from a member of the public about the incident at 5.25 pm yesterday (31 Mar).
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the three-tonne lorry was heading from Kuantan towards Kuala Lumpur.

The lorry allegedly lost control, crashed into the road divider, veered into the opposite lane and then collided with four other vehicles in that lane.
Tragically, three family members in the Honda Accord were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as 29-year-old Wong Kean Yeap, 34-year-old Wong Hwee Moon and 61-year-old Lee Lai Cheng.

The lorry driver was also injured. Meanwhile, two men and two women in the Proton Waja sustained injuries of unknown severity, while the occupants in the Proton Saga and Subaru were fortunately unhurt.
She used her body to shield her daughter
Among the victims, 34-year-old Wong Hwee Moon was hailed as a hero.
China Press reported that her cousin, radio DJ Dino, said she had used her body to protect her young daughter in the moments before the crash, a selfless act that ultimately saved the child’s life.

You are the greatest mom, the bravest mother, the strongest sister. You gave your all to protect your daughter in the crash. She survived. She really did.” — DJ Dino on Instagram.
He also posted a screenshot of a past chat between him and Wong Hwee Moon, where she had checked in on him after he was involved in a minor accident back in February.
He emotionally wrote, “I wish the ones who made it through were you all.”
Police are now investigating
Bentong District Police confirmed they are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death.
