Netizens were shocked by a clip showing a lorry continuing to move on its own despite bursting into flames.
According to Sinar Harian, the unusual sight took place at Kilometer 38 of the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Expressway on Monday (Jan 13).
Lorry seen moving along highway while on fire
In a 1-minute clip that has been making rounds on social media, it showed the lorry moving along the highway while engulfed in flames, much to the astonishment of onlookers.

Thankfully, there weren’t much cars on the highway at the time, thus allowing other drivers to quickly move out of the burning lorry’s path.
The lorry is later seen veering towards the left lane and eventually comes to a stop at a bend while continuing to burn away.

Overheated engine cause for fire
In a statement by Sepang deputy district police chief, Superintendent G K Shan Gopal, he said preliminary investigations revealed the incident occurred at around 10am while the lorry was traveling from Dengkil towards Puchong.
The 70-year-old lorry driver noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment upon arriving at the scene and tried to stop the lorry by the roadside.
“But he was unable to do so as the flames had already spread rapidly, leading him to jump out of the vehicle while it continued to move on its own,” he said.

Gopal added the lorry driver sustained minor injuries while the lorry was completely destroyed. An overheated engine was later found to be the cause for the fire.
‘Is it Ghost Rider?’
The clip later found its way to X (formerly Twitter) and netizens couldn’t help but to draw parallels of the incident to the Marvel character ‘Ghost Rider’.
‘The economy’s too harsh that even Ghost Rider opted for a second job.’
