PENANG – Penang has always been every Malaysian’s top pick when it comes to food hunting, thanks to its reputation as a culinary paradise for locals and tourists. Penang has also been praised for its affordability and heartwarming people.
However, a woman named Xin Er (欣儿) took to Facebook to recount her unpleasant encounter at the Moody Cow Café, citing its priciness and poor customer service as the main reasons.
Complaints
In the video, she used a filter that showed tears running down her face to express her disappointment and anger over her dining experience.
“I’ve never felt such displeasure while visiting a café.”
Here are a few things she complained about:
1. Having to place an order before being seated
While it’s standard practice for most cafes, Xin Er found it to be ridiculous as it would require first-timers to scour through the menu on the Internet before stepping into the shop, making it a non “user-friendly” experience.
2. Low-quality coffee
She claimed that the coffee cost her more than RM10 but tasted terrible.
“I can make better coffee at home!”
3. Arrogant attitude from the staff
Whenever one visits a new restaurant or café, he/she would usually enquire what’s on the recommendation list. Xin Er claimed that when she asked the staff what’s the best-selling item, they gave her half-hearted replies, along with a sour facial expression. With little to no information on hand, she resorted to ordering a piece of cake priced at RM46 – something that she was clearly unhappy over.
“The way how they responded to my enquiries were as though someone was trying to take their lives away!”
WeirdKaya attempted to reach out to Xin Er to verify her account of the incident but received no response so far.
So…was it justified?
According to the reviews on Moody Cow Café’s Facebook page, there seems to be a considerable amount of criticism regarding its customer service.
However, according to one from our team, she believes that the quality of the cakes is worth the price.
As for netizens, many agreed with Xin Er, saying that they had the same experience at the café, while others believed she was overreacting and thought it was unfair to form conclusions based upon her side of the story.
What do you think? Have you had any bad experience with a certain café or restaurant?
