Kota Bharu district has recorded the highest number of online gambling cases in Kelantan, with 37 investigation papers opened over the past year, according to Sinar Harian.
This revelation was made by Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun, during a press conference at the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) on Sunday.
He stated that out of these cases, 27 investigation papers have led to prosecutions.
“Eight cases have been resolved, while two are still under investigation.
“Aside from Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas is the second-highest district with 27 investigation papers, followed by Tanah Merah (24), Machang (23), Tumpat (17), and Jeli (10). Pasir Puteh and Bachok both recorded nine cases each, Gua Musang five, and Kuala Krai two,” he said.
From January until Sunday, a total of 83 online gambling cases have been recorded.
Of these, Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah recorded the highest number of investigation papers with 14 each.
“Kota Bharu followed with 13 cases, Bachok with nine, while Tumpat, Pasir Puteh, and Machang each recorded seven. Kuala Krai had six, and both Jeli and Gua Musang had three each,” he added.
Muhamad Zaki mentioned that all these cases are being investigated under Section 4(1) and Section 4B(a) of the Open Gambling Act 1953.
