A Korean tourist’s RM3,000 reward to retrieve her lost phone at Sabah’s Tanjung Aru Beach has sparked concern online, with netizens warning the area is known for crocodiles.
According to a Facebook post shared by Sabah veterinarian Randolph Pazah, the tourist, identified only as Ryu Eun, lost her Samsung Galaxy S23 on July 26 while taking part in a 10-minute water activity near the beach around 5:15pm.
Lost her phone during water activity
I placed my phone in a waterproof pouch, and I believe the waves weren’t strong. So I think the phone may have sunk and stayed close to where I went in,” she wrote in her message, hoping a local diver could assist in locating the white device.
Initially, Ryu gave up on searching for the phone, thinking her photos were automatically backed up. However, after returning to Korea, she realised they weren’t — and that many precious memories were now lost.

Despite acknowledging that the chances of recovery are slim, she is now seeking a professional with the right equipment to help retrieve the device, offering RM3,000 as a reward.
If anyone can help, please contact me via WhatsApp,” she said.
“Find the phone, and you might go missing too,” netizens joke
However, the call for help quickly sparked warnings and jokes from netizens, with many highlighting the dangers of diving in that area.

But there are still some locals who voiced out that they would help.
