There is a saying in the Chinese community, “You can never stop funding education no matter how poor you are”. However, the cost of being well-educated is getting higher in our society, which somehow leads to the Matthew effect. Many people cannot afford tuition fees and decided to get out of school after their SPM. Fortunately, some kind and generous people or organization are willing to help these students with potential but financially disadvantage. Among them, there is Uncle Koon Yew Yin.
Biography
Koon Yew Yin is an investor, businessman, blogger and philanthropist well known for his excellent stock pick. He has his own blog posting his opinions about the happenings in Malaysia. Besides, he often writes for news media sites like Malaysiakini and freemalaysiatoday.
Scholarship
Yesterday, uncle Koon posted about his plan of giving out a scholarship to needy students on his blog.
The criteria of the scholarship are as follows:
- Malaysian
- Parents earning less than RM3,000 per month
- Taking any degree course including Medicine in all Government-sponsored Universities / UTAR
- Minimum 6A in their SPM certificates
Application method: Write to him by email at [email protected]
Terms and condition:
Koon Yew Yin reserves the right to reject any application if he finds the applicant unsuitable.
“All scholarship recipients after their graduation do not need to work for me. They are not required to pay back the money I spent on them. But they have to remember that I helped them when they were poor and that they will have to help other poor students when they are financially solvent or have some spare money.”
It can be seen that he aims to create a nuclear fission reaction in terms of educational aid.
We hope to spread the good news to more people in need. #kitajagakita
