KLIA Aerotrain To Undergo Overnight Maintenance Between 12am & 5am For 2 Weeks Starting Aug 18

"It is to ensure long-term reliability."
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will begin scheduled overnight maintenance on its aerotrain system from next Monday (Aug 18), as part of efforts to optimise performance and enhance service reliability.

According to Malaysia Airports, the maintenance will run daily for two weeks during non-peak hours — between 12am and 5am — to minimise passenger disruption.

During this period, the aerotrain service will be temporarily unavailable.

To ensure smooth travel, airside shuttle buses will be provided to connect passengers between the main terminal and the satellite building.

Malaysia Airports managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani said the works are guided by real-time operational data and are crucial for the system’s long-term efficiency.

We are proactively fine-tuning the aerotrain system based on real-time data and insights gathered since its launch. These scheduled works are essential to ensure optimal system responsiveness, safety and long-term reliability,” he said.

As part of broader upgrades, KLIA is also introducing an automatic vehicle wash plant (AVWP) — the first of its kind for the aerotrain.
