Malaysians in KL woke up today wondering if someone set up a giant BBQ pit overnight.
The skies turned hazy, and the smell of burnt wood lingered everywhere from Kajang to Ampang, and even as far as Sepang.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, one reader shared that he was in KL this morning and could barely see the iconic Merdeka 118 through the haze. “Normally, it’s super clear from here, but now it’s like it vanished,” he said.

Another reader told WeirdKaya that he went out for a quick breakfast, and by the time he got home, his shirt already smelled like smoke.
Many took to social media to share how bad it was:
“Opened my window and Cheras instantly turned into a smokehouse.”

“Thought my neighbour was burning trash, but nope… the whole city is grey.”

Buildings were barely visible as a thick layer of haze covered the skyline.
Air pollution index is reportedly climbing, sparking questions: Is this haze season returning, or just local burning?
Did you smell the smoke too? Where are you at?
