Birthdays are special occasions usually celebrated with family and friends, but sadly not everyone has the same opportunity to do on their special day.
A bakery in Taman Melawati, KL, recently warmed the hearts of netizens with a video of its staff going the extra mile of surprising and celebrating a woman’s birthday when they noticed she was doing so all alone.
KL bakery staff throws surprise for aunty who celebrated birthday solo
In the touching 1-minute 24 second TikTok clip posted to the bakery’s account, it showed the aunty walking into the store to buy a slice of cake.
During a conversation with a staff named Eryn, the aunty revealed that it was her birthday, prompting Eryn to offer the cake entirely for free. Though the aunty tried to pay for it, Eryn refused to accept it.

The rest of the staff later noticed the aunty celebrating her birthday and blowing out the candle all alone.
“She then said she wanted to go to a shop nearby for a while. At that time, all of us stopped what we were doing and prepared a cake to surprise her.
“We were so excited to surprise her when she returned,” read the caption.
When the aunty returned with a box of biscuits to give to Eryn in exchange for the free cake, the staff began singing Happy Birthday, moving the aunty and a staff member to tears.

“Witnessing her tears of joy as we sang for her, reminds us why we do what we do. This is the reason we keep going. It’s what drives us, and it always will,” wrote the caption.
In a brief conversation with WeirdKaya, the bakery named Sundaydo HQ said the video was filmed on Monday (Dec 2) at around 12.30pm.
They also said they never expected the video to go viral, adding that they were “overwhelmed with the kind responses and prayers from everyone.”

Netizens moved to tears
The clip has since been viewed 1.3 million times so far and netizens couldn’t help but to shed a tear over the heartwarming gesture and praised the staff for brightening the aunty’s day.
