In an official statement on April 20, UNIMAS said it had completed an internal investigation through its security department.

The probe included CCTV footage, eyewitness interviews, and photographic evidence.

Based on their findings, the university concluded that no elements of abuse or human involvement were detected.

They urged the campus community to remain vigilant and continue safeguarding stray animals within the university grounds.

On April 21, 2025, the animal rescuer provided an update stating that a former UNIMAS student had officially filed a police report regarding the kitten’s death.

Authorities are now expected to begin looking into the matter.
