Khairul Aming Holds Mock Press Conference After Fans Joke About ‘Divorcing’ His Ramadan Recipes

He jokingly questioned how people could feel stressed when all he asked was for them to try three recipes daily.
Ramadan is here, which means one thing on Malaysian social media: recipes from Khairul Aming.

For years now, the content creator’s 30-day cooking series has practically become part of the Ramadan month routine.

Scroll your feed before buka puasa and chances are, you will see at least one of his dishes simmering, frying or baking on screen.

But while many followers proudly recreate his meals at home, not everyone has emerged victorious from the kitchen.

Fan announces ‘recipe divorce’

The drama began when a fan posted a tongue in cheek “press statement” video declaring that she was officially giving up on Khairul Aming’s recipes.

Framing it like a breakup announcement, she joked that she could no longer keep up after several unsuccessful attempts, effectively “ending” their culinary relationship.

Instead of ignoring it, Khairul Aming leaned all the way in.

Sahur time press conference

In response, he uploaded a mock press conference on Threads, complete with dramatic piano music, flashing camera effects and imaginary microphones from reporters.

He said he recorded the clip during sahur to “clarify” the situation from his side.

Delivering his statement in a mock serious tone, he quipped that some fans claim they are tired or unwell, but in his view, it is a “commitment issue”.

“I upload three videos a day. Sometimes I cannot even sleep because I am still editing. What do I get in return? Nothing,” he said, before quickly adding that he was not complaining, just seeking “justice”.

He jokingly questioned how people could feel stressed when all he asked was for them to try three recipes daily, calling it a matter of “responsibility”.

“I don’t understand how you can end this relationship and leave me alone with my duties, which are already challenging,” he added in mock frustration.

Burnt puddings, blown ovens & missing desserts

The video also featured receipts.

Clips of fans’ failed attempts were edited into the skit, including burnt stovetops, caramel puddings gone black, oven mishaps while making marshmallows and even one puzzling case where a pudding allegedly disappeared after cooking.

At one point, he joked that people were “losing control”, burning stoves and overcooking desserts, proving that he has clearly been keeping up with his followers’ kitchen adventures.

He also warned fans not to give up and then blame him later.

Since the entire video was styled as a press conference, he ended by joking that he did not want the media to ask him questions in case they “write something else”.

Overseas fans still ‘committed’

If some Malaysians are joking about quitting, others say they are in it for the long haul.

One overseas Malaysian shared that she is not “recipe divorcing” him like some locals. In fact, she claimed she had driven across the border from Denmark to Germany just to get plum sauce for one of his dishes.

Another follower joked that “Cikgu KA” has made this year’s Ramadan syllabus even tougher, while others praised the mock press conference as one of the funniest moments of the month so far.
