Three Johor police officers have won the hearts of many after a video of their selfless act went viral.
The officers were seen wading barefoot through flooded roads caused by a blocked drainage system, taking matters into their own hands to clear the blockage and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
The incident took place in the South Johor Bahru police district, where the officers were on duty with the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit.
Clearing the drainage with their bare hands
The three officers—Sergeant Ivon Yi, Sergeant Celestin, and Sergeant Mohamad Noiz Ganda—acted quickly to alleviate the inconvenience faced by motorists and prevent potential accidents.
In a video shared on Facebook by the South Johor Bahru Police District, the officers were seen rolling up their pants, stepping barefoot into the water, and clearing the drainage system with their bare hands.

The floodwaters had caused significant disruption to traffic in the area, but the officers’ quick thinking and actions helped prevent further chaos.
The post praised the officers for their commitment to public service, stating that their actions reflected the police force’s dedication to serving and protecting the public, even in unexpected situations.
Netizens’ reaction
The video sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many netizens expressing their gratitude for the officers’ bravery and dedication.
While some acknowledged that clearing blocked drains was not typically a police officer’s job, they were moved by the officers’ willingness to go above and beyond to ensure public safety.
“Salute to this policeman. But the person responsible for this job, do they get paid for doing nothing?”

“Isn’t there a contractor appointed to clean the drains?”

“For the comfort of the public. Thank you, sir. Best traffic police.”
