JOHOR BAHRU – A father decided to shave off his hair in support of his 3-year-old son’s battle against an excruciating stomach illness.
Facebook user Tan Book Kuang recently shared a photo of him and his son with their matching hairstyles, touching many online.
I shaved off my hair with my son today, my first time in 22 years.
I know it won’t look good but what I really care about is my son’s health.
He added that it was hard to hear his son talk about his pain occasionally, or see him admit to the hospital every 2-3 months.
Tan Book Kuang: It’s Been A Tough fight
In an interview with China Press, Tan said that his son was born with inflamed intestinal walls and has been facing severe stomach pains ever since.
Despite the pain, his son remained cheerful and would also take TikTok videos together with Tan.
Tan also revealed to the Chinese daily that his son was recently discharged from the hospital after a two-week stay.
However, he was deemed too young to go under the knife, causing Tan to shave off his hair on the same day with him.
Overwhelming support
The post has since garnered over 2,300 reactions and 300 shares at press time.
Many applauded Tan’s act of love and support for his son and wished the latter a speedy recovery.
