Some people find peace in meditation. Others, like one Japanese student, found it 5,000km away in Malaysia after living for one month here.
The shift didn’t come with fireworks or big announcements. Instead, it came through a quiet reflection on TikTok, where the student (@atoooooooooooy) pieced together clips of his old life in Japan and his new one in Malaysia.
Back then, his days were loud and fast-paced. He was constantly out drinking, partying, and living what he called an “adventurous” life.

But beneath the surface, that lifestyle lacked structure and, eventually, clarity.
Things started to feel different after he moved to Malaysia to continue his studies.

Within just a month, he found himself falling into a new rhythm: waking up early, exercising daily, working on a flexible schedule, and paying more attention to what he ate.
These changes weren’t broadcasted with dramatic flair. The video was simple and quietly powerful. And yet, it struck a chord with many viewers.

In the comments, Malaysians were quick to offer kind words. Some were proud that their country, simply through its environment, could help guide someone towards a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
And maybe that’s what makes it special. It wasn’t about running from the past or chasing something extraordinary.
