‘It’s Gone Now’ – Mum Of 18yo M’sian Victim Says His Higher Education Dream Has Been Crushed By Mercedes Crash

A tragic car accident has ended the bright future of 18-year-old Chen Yixun (transliteration), a recent high school graduate who had secured a scholarship to study at a private university in Penang.

According to China Press, Yixun had planned to pursue his dream of becoming a software engineer, but the accident abruptly took away his chance to continue his education.

Worked tirelessly toward his goal

Yixun’s mother, Gloria, expressed her heartbreak, saying that her son had completed all the preparations for his studies, including registering for classes and receiving a scholarship.

“He loved mathematics and excelled in it. As a child, he couldn’t accept anything less than first place and would cry if he came in second. Once he set his mind on something, he would see it through to the end.” Gloria added.

Already arranged for his further education

She also revealed that Yixun had always dreamed of studying in China.

“Since he was our only child, we were hesitant to let him go abroad alone. We decided he would first study in Penang, where his cousin, who attends the same university, could look after him. We even planned to bring his grandmother along to cook and care for him,” Gloria said.

Unfortunately, those plans will never come to fruition. Yixun had already arranged to rent a room with his cousin, and his family had made all the necessary preparations to support his academic journey.

“Yixun wasn’t a prodigy, but he was incredibly hardworking. Through his perseverance, he earned a scholarship, proving his determination. It’s heartbreaking that fate took him away before he could achieve his dreams.” His father, spoke of his deep sorrow.

His father also shared that Yixun had been studying in Alor Setar and that he personally drove him back and forth every week to ensure he was well taken care of.

Yixun’s tragic passing has left his family and loved ones devastated, as they mourn the loss of a promising young man whose future was unjustly cut short.
