Differences in income often come with differences in lived experience, but according to one man, it is the way people think and what they talk about that sets social groups apart.
In a post shared on Threads, the man reflected on his time spending with people from different income brackets, particularly those commonly referred to as T20 and B40.
He said his observations helped him better understand why the rich tend to get richer, while those struggling financially often remain stuck in the same cycle.
Why is it that T20 people don’t really mix with B40? It’s not because they are arrogant. It’s the mindset.”

The man explained that when he spent time with people from the T20 group, discussions usually centred around business ideas, planning, and future goals.
In contrast, he claimed that when hanging out with people from the B40 group, conversations often focused on other people, negative experiences, or staying within familiar comfort zones.
However, he was careful to clarify that this was based on personal experience and that not everyone from either group thinks the same way.
Netizens divided
His post quickly drew reactions from other netizens, some of whom agreed with his perspective.
In the comments, some netizens said many people in the B40 group are hardworking but held back by circumstances rather than attitude.
They added that financial pressure exists across income levels, noting that even high earners can remain focused on accumulating assets or managing debt.

Others argued that education plays a bigger role than income. They said people who are exposed to broader forms of education, not just academic, tend to think and plan differently regardless of background.

However, not everyone agreed that T20 individuals are generally more positive. Some shared experiences with wealthy people who came across as dismissive or more interested in showing off achievements.
Many ultimately agreed that every group has both positive and negative individuals, and that personal values and who one chooses to be influenced by matter more than income labels.
The OP later revealed that he identifies as part of the B40 group, but is actively trying to learn from the mindset he associates with the T20.
