Every now and then, we would occasionally dream of escaping to a beach complete with sunny skies, blue sea waves, and seagulls squawking at a distance while we laze around on a deck chair.
While it would sound crazy to own your very own private island, there’s actually one island in Dungun, Terengganu that is currently looking for someone willing to purchase the entire property for millions of Ringgit.
Island in Terengganu up for sale for RM28mil
According to a tweet shared by a netizen with the username @xirfnx, he shared two photos, one showing the island purportedly for sale and the other depicting an official document regarding the property.
As you can see from photos of the island, it is blessed with scenic views and clear seawater that one can listen to when it gently crashes onto the shore.
As for the second photo, it shows a document titled ‘Official Search Certificate’, which provides more details for interested buyers about the island.
According to the document, when one purchases the 20.4999 hectare-wide island, they will own it for life. Furthermore, it also stated that the island isn’t located on reserved land.
In the caption, the OP revealed that the asking price for the island is currently at a whopping RM28 million.
Netizens express interest
In the comment section, the prospect of owning an island caused quite a stir among netizens, with many expressing interest in purchasing it out of jest.
One wrote: ‘Oh, my budget is only within RM250,000. Can I still buy it?’
Another said: ‘Okay I’ll buy this island later but first let me start saving up.’
Another joked that he needed to dig through his old wallet to see whether he had any bitcoins remaining inside.
This isn’t the first time an island in Malaysia has been put up for sale, with one other example taking place last year.
According to NST, the island in question is Pom Pom Island in Semporna, Sabah, where the selling price was RM18 million. However, there have been no reports of it being purchased so far.
